The German ex-wife of Dimitry Kovtun, the Moscow based Russian businessman who is linked to the death of Alexandr Litvinenko, confirmed her will to testify at the German authorities in favour of her former husband. This is what the German language Internet newspaper “Russland Aktuell” in Moscow reports.
It is reported that Marina B. strongly believes that her divorced husband is completely innocent.
The Hamburg based German layer of Mrs B. will travel to Moscow next week to meet Dimitry Kovtun to discuss further moves with him. A first meeting has already taken place in early March.
During this meeting Mr Kovtun had confirmed his will to travel to Germany to talk to the German authorities who want to question him on the basis of the “illegal posssion of nuclear material”, not on the basis of Kovtun’s possible involvement in the “Litvinenko Case”.
Mr Kovtun agreed to fully cooperate under the condition of unhindered transit and the guarantee of not being handed over to British authorities.
While the German proscecutors want to interview Mr Kovtun on the charges of illegaly owning nuclear material (Polonium 210) the British are after him on the charges of being an acomplice in the “Litvinenko Murder Case”.
